thinking-about-growing

On Tuesday I went out and binged shopped on things that will grow. It was the sort of day where I tried to be productive, but stuff kept popping up. And yea I didn’t get much done, but I did end up with a Jiffy Indoor Greenhouse and two packages of lavender. I’m ok with that sort of balance ;)

Did I mention we’re doing an outdoor backyard wedding? I had this hope to incorporate a lot of lavender.  You have to start lavender early and then carefully transfer it outside when the ground is warm enough. So that’s perfect because it gives me about two -and-a-half months of coddle time.

I think I’ve told you before how much I love growing things. I just love the idea that you can plant a seed and watch it grow gradually right before your eyes, especially at this time of year when there’s still of foot of snow covering the ground in Ottawa. No spring crocuses in sight.

This Jiffy Indoor Green House is so cool! You put water on the peat pellets and they expand:

look at those adorable little sacks of love and anticipation ^^ ;) lavender-seeds And now, there’s a tiny army dreaming sweet dreams on the shelf in our kitchen. I’m pretty excited about it!!

Who else can’t wait to put a few things in the ground this summer?

I like the phrase “coddle time.”

wow! Growing your own lavender for the wedding. I love it! I love lavender. There is a lavender farm about an hour outside of Austin and I’ve NEVER BEEN. It pains me to say this. I’m almost afraid that if I go, I’ll never leave.

It was an impulse buy – I can’t admit that I thought about it deliberately. So here’s hoping that it actually grows. I saw a picture of a single piece of lavender on a folded napkin on the plate for the place setting and I”m hoping that I can do something like that! So the funny thing is, there’s also a lavender farm outside of my (tiny) hometown. It’s my fall-back plan :)
